Jez is acknowledged as one England's finest singer-songwriters. His Irish roots combined with his family's coal mining history are the base for his fantastic library of songs. Often dealing with the drudgery of daily life in North-East England and the decline of the coal-mining industry, the seriousness of Jez's songs is usually leavened by an ever-present sense of humour and his gentle accompaniment on guitar, harmonica, cittern, and piano. This area's similar history possibly explains why Jez is always made very welcome, usually by a full house! |
